Author and editor William Proctor of Inkslingers Press

 

William Proctor, a graduate of Harvard College (magna cum laude in history) and Harvard Law School, has authored, coauthored or ghostwritten more than 80 books in a wide variety of fields, including health and fitness, business and investments, religion, personal motivation, politics, the media and education. He is also the author of three novels.

One recent nonfiction book, coauthored with Dr. Herbert Benson of the Harvard Medical School, is RELAXATION REVOLUTION: Enhancing Your Personal Health Through the Science and Genetics of Mind Body Healing. Scribner, a division of Simon & Schuster, published the hardcover book in June 2010 and the paperback in June 2011.

Proctor’s books, which have sold more than 10 million copies in over 40 languages, include several international bestsellers and an 18-week appearance on The New York Times hardcover nonfiction bestseller list (Controlling Cholesterol with Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper, the “father of aerobics”). His books have also been recognized for many publishing industry awards, including the Templeton Foundation Book of Distinction award.

Publishers of Proctor’s books include Scribner, Avon, Bantam, Dell, Doubleday, McGraw-Hill, William Morrow, Thomas Nelson, Simon & Schuster, Times Books, Warner Books, Broadman & Holman, and others. His articles, published as book excerpts or original assignments, have appeared in Reader’s Digest, Parade, Family Circle, Glamour, Redbook, the New York Daily News and other national publications.

Proctor – a member of the Texas State Bar, and a former reporter, legal correspondent and crime writer for the New York Daily News – delivers scores of speeches each year on issues covered in his books. He has been a faculty member for the Harvard Medical School’s Department of Continuing Education; has served twice as guest lecturer at Hanoi University in Vietnam; and has spoken on English grammar and standardized test-taking to Chinese students in Shanghai. In addition, he has been interviewed or featured on hundreds of national and local radio, TV, Internet and print outlets, including national Fox TV News, local NPR, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Washington Times and the Harvard Law Bulletin.

Proctor conducts English writing and grammar-usage seminars and tutorials for SAT/ACT/PSAT prep and other tests through a family corporation, College Application Consultants, Inc. In addition, through his company, Inkslingers, Inc., he engages in book writing; corporate and business writing and consulting; and legal editing and rewrite work. He is also Editor-Publisher of Inkslingers Press, an e-book publishing venture.

A former U.S. Marine Corps Trial Lawyer and Military Judge, Proctor served in Vietnam, Okinawa, the Philippines, and Japan as a JAG officer (captain).
